Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has commented on the ongoing US-Israel strikes on Iran, warning that the conflict could pose a significant security challenge for Georgia.
In a social media post on Monday, Saakashvili estimated that the war in Iran may last approximately two months, followed by another two to three months for the collapse of the current Iranian regime.
He expressed concern that the initial waves of refugees could be ordinary citizens fleeing the conflict, followed by members of the regime as it collapses. Saakashvili noted that neighboring countries, except Armenia, were unlikely to accept the refugees, and he warned that many could enter Georgia.
The former president also raised concerns about financial connections, stating that some Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-linked firms reportedly hold significant property in Georgia. He urged caution, emphasizing that authorities and the public should remain vigilant regarding potential security risks.
