Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on Sunday said anyone who loves Georgia should fully support both the ongoing Rustaveli protests in the country and the revolution unfolding in Iran.

He added that the overthrow of the Iranian regime would trigger revolutionary changes across the region and would also be devastating for the Government of Georgia and ruling Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili.

Saakashvili noted that the protests in Iran are driven by the same issues seen in Georgia: skyrocketing costs of living and widespread social hardship. “Today, all the signs of a revolutionary situation are visible in Iran,” he wrote.

Reflecting on his previous visit to Iran, Saakashvili described meeting thousands of people in Fereydan, many of whom expressed dissatisfaction with the regime despite official propaganda efforts. He also recalled observing the difficult social and cultural conditions in Isfahan, highlighting the restrictions faced by the population and the regime’s control over public life.

Saakashvili called for solidarity, urging everyone who cares about Georgia to support both domestic protests and the Iranian people’s struggle for change.
