Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze and UN Resident Coordinator Didier Trebucq on Friday discussed the implementation of a five-year strategic framework to strengthen the country’s health and social systems, following a high-level meeting in Tbilisi.
At the centre of the discussions was the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030, which sets out the main directions of partnership between the Georgian Government and the United Nations over the next five years. The agreement is designed to support sustainable development in the country and channel international expertise and resources into priority reforms.
The parties identified key areas for practical cooperation, including reinforcing the healthcare system, developing social protection mechanisms, and improving overall public welfare. Emphasis was placed on translating the framework’s goals into concrete programmes aligned with Georgia’s national needs and the global Sustainable Development Goals.
Sarjveladze said the partnership with the UN provides an important platform for advancing reforms and sharing international experience, while the UN Resident Coordinator reaffirmed the organisation’s readiness to work closely with the Georgian authorities to ensure the effective delivery of agreed objectives.
