Georgian Health Minister, UNFPA regional chief meet to advance joint programmes

Georgia’s Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Mikheil Sarjveladze, met with Florence Bauer, Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the United Nations Population Fund, to discuss ongoing cooperation and future joint initiatives.
The meeting focused on programmes implemented with UNFPA support, as well as opportunities to further strengthen collaboration, the Ministry press office said on Thursday.
Sarjveladze highlighted the significance of UNFPA’s role in promoting human rights protection and supporting demographic sustainability in Georgia. He also thanked Bauer for the partnership and effective cooperation, noting that continued dialogue would contribute to even more productive engagement in the future.

They also reviewed ongoing cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026-2030, along with planned activities for its next phase.
Participants further explored prospects for expanding cooperation and outlined joint plans aimed at strengthening existing programmes.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Health in Tbilisi, was also attended by representatives of the UNFPA country office in Georgia.
