More than 17% of Georgians in need of budgetary social aid

As of today 652,096 people receive state subsistence allowance in Georgia which is 17.5% of the country’s population. Over the past three months alone, 8,929 individuals have been added to the list, the Social Services Agency of Georgia said today.
In December 2021, 174,379 families, or 643,167 people, received the state subsistence allowance, while in January, February and March of this year, this number increased, said the agency.
In particular, 648,176 people received subsistence allowance in January, 650,584 in February, and 176,837 families or 652,096 people received state assistance in March.
The amount transferred to the families receiving the living allowance amounted to 44, 308, 911 GEL in January, 44, 331, 988 GEL in February and 44, 413 040 GEL in March.
The number of people receiving the state assistance in March for Tbilisi and regions were as follows:
- Tbilisi – 132,979 people
- Imereti – 84 253
- Kvemo Kartli – 80 089
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 76 597
- Autonomous Republic of Adjara – 71 893
- Kakheti – 66,570
- Shida Kartli – 58,714
- Guria – 27 922
- Samtskhe-Javakheti – 19,635
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 18, 815
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti 14, 629
