Chairman of the Parliamentary Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, Davit Matikashvili, expressed optimism about a possible reset in US-Georgia relations after Georgian Ambassador Tamar Taliashvili officially presented her credentials to US President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday.
“What the public witnessed gives us hope that another constructive step has been taken to reset US-Georgia relations—to start from a new point and make the partnership mutually beneficial for both nations,” Matikashvili said.
He noted that all technical and procedural matters surrounding the credentialing process were resolved in a remarkably short time, emphasizing the presence of the US Secretary of State at the ceremony as a positive signal.
“There was a conversation about the future of US-Georgia relations. Now the radicals and the entire opposition will likely begin their usual justifications. But what matters is that the public saw a constructive gesture,” he added.
