Two Russian mountaineers tragically lost their lives while climbing Kazbegi, a popular mountain in Georgia.The climbers were on their way to a glacier when the fatal incident occurred.

According to reports, the bodies were recovered by the helicopter unit of the Border Police, a division of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry confirmed with Front News that an investigation into the incident has been launched under Article 116 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to causing death by negligence.

No further details have been provided about the cause of the accident, and the names of the victims have not been released.
