Police seize large quantity of drugs in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, two Ukrainian nationals arrested

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs on Wednesday announced that police in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region had arrested two Ukrainian citizens, born in 1964 and 2004, on charges of illegal possession and attempted distribution of a particularly large quantity of narcotics.

During a search, officers seized nearly one kilogram of the drug methadone, along with packaging materials and electronic scales intended for distribution.

The suspects face charges under Articles 260 and 260¹ of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

According to the authorities, the operation was carried out as part of an ongoing investigation targeting drug-related crimes in the region.
