Police in Georgia have detained three people, including an Indian national, on suspicion of large-scale drug possession and trafficking, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.
The suspects – two Georgian citizens born in 1992 and 1994, both with prior convictions, and a 20-year-old Indian citizen – were arrested in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region following joint operations by local police units.
During searches of their homes, personal belongings and locations indicated by the suspects, officers seized 69 packages of methadone and MDMA, allegedly prepared for sale, the ministry said.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
