On July 25, the multinational military exercise Agile Spirit 2025, organized by U.S. European Command, officially kicked off in Georgia for the twelfth time. The opening ceremony was held at the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) in Krtsanisi.
Notably, no members of the ruling “Georgian Dream” government cabinet, including the Minister of Defense, attended the opening event.
The ceremony featured addresses by several high-ranking military officials, including Georgia’s First Deputy Minister of Defense Paata Patiashvili, Deputy Chief of the Georgian Defense Forces Major General Irakli Chichinadze, and Brigadier General Terry Tillis, Commander of the 7th Army Training Command of the United States Army Europe and Africa.
According to Georgia’s Ministry of Defense, the exercise is being jointly led by Brigadier General Koba Grigolia, Commander of the Western Command of the Georgian Defense Forces, and Colonel William Cox of the Georgia National Guard (USA).
Agile Spirit 2025 is taking place in both Georgia and Turkey, reinforcing regional defense cooperation. The Ministry described the exercise as an important initiative for strengthening regional partnerships and advancing military interoperability.
