Court hearing for detained media manager Mzia Amaglobeli set for April 7

The next court hearing in the case of Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, is scheduled for April 7 at 13:00.
During today’s session, Berdia Peradze, head of the Investigative Division of the Adjara Police Department, testified. Peradze, along with Batumi Police Head Irakli Dgebuadze’s deputy, was personally involved in Amaglobeli’s arrest on January 12. Additionally, police officer Tamar Kereselidze, who drafted the official detention report, also testified in court.
Diplomatic representatives from the embassies of the Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom attended the hearing, indicating strong international interest in the case.
Mzia Amaglobeli is accused of assaulting a police officer, a charge that carries a prison sentence of four to seven years under Georgian law. The case has drawn significant attention from media freedom advocates and international observers.
