Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested five individuals on drug-related charges following a series of police operations.
The Ministry said - both Georgian and foreign nationals - have been accused of the illegal purchase, possession, and facilitation of the distribution of particularly large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances.
Law enforcement officers seized substantial amounts of drugs intended for sale during searches of the suspects’ persons, vehicles, and residences, as well as from locations identified during investigative experiments. The confiscated substances included methadone, opium, marijuana, and the psychotropic substance ketamine.
Police also recovered materials allegedly used for packaging narcotics and money believed to have been obtained through drug sales.
The offenses carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment, the Ministry said.
