Seven suspects arrested in Georgia on major drug trafficking charges

Police also recovered various materials used for packaging and distributing narcotic substances

Police officers from the Interior Ministry’s Central Criminal Police Department have arrested seven individuals on drug-related charges, including the illegal purchase, possession, facilitation of sale, and smuggling of large and especially large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances.
According to the ministry, the detainees include both Georgian and foreign nationals: A.R. (born 1983), G.R. (born 1984), K.D. (born 1977), R.K. (born 1998), G.M. (born 1993), L.R. (born 1971) and S.T. (born 1962).
During searches of the suspects’ persons, vehicles and residences - as well as during an investigative experiment conducted at locations indicated by the detainees - law enforcement officers seized large and especially large quantities of drugs and psychotropic substances prepared for sale. Items confiscated include methadone, Subutex, LSD, hashish, psilocybin-containing mushrooms, dried marijuana and cannabis plants.
Police also recovered various materials used for packaging and distributing narcotic substances.
The offences carry prison sentences ranging from up to 20 years to life imprisonment.
