Russian, Israeli citizens arrested in Georgia over large-scale drug smuggling attempt

Georgia’s Interior Ministry has said police have prevented the illegal import of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances into the country.
Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department, in cooperation with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service under the Ministry of Finance, detained two foreign nationals on drug-related charges. The suspects are a 1993-born citizen of Israel, identified as M.K., and a 2003-born citizen of the Russian Federation, identified as O.G.
The Ministry said law enforcement officers seized a particularly large quantity of various narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances during the inspection of the suspects’ personal belongings and hand luggage at Tbilisi International Airport.
The offences carry a potential sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
