The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced the arrest of five individuals on charges related to large-scale narcotics trafficking. According to the Central Criminal Police Department, the detainees include both Georgian and foreign nationals: F.P. (born 2002), V.L. (born 1967), I.I. (born 1980), J.L. (born 1985), and L.K. (born 1995).

The suspects have been accused of the unlawful acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the sale of particularly large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

The Ministry reported that, following comprehensive investigative actions - including searches of personal premises and residences, as well as a controlled investigative experiment - law enforcement officers seized a significant amount of illegal substances prepared for distribution. Items confiscated as evidence included:

  • 22 packages of cocaine

  • 261 tablets and 36 tablet fragments of Subutex

  • MDMA

  • Amphetamine

  • Psilocybin-containing mushrooms

  • Lyrica

  • Dried marijuana

Police additionally recovered materials used for packaging narcotics.

The offences envisage penalties ranging from up to 20 years of imprisonment to life imprisonment.
