Eight arrested in Georgian capital on drug-related charges

Georgia’s Interior Ministry on Sunday reported that police officers from the Tbilisi Police Department and the Patrol Police Department had detained eight individuals on drug-related charges.
The Ministry said those arrested were accused of the illegal purchase, possession and facilitation of the sale of especially large quantities of narcotic substances.
During personal and residential searches, as well as through investigative experiments, law enforcement officers seized especially large quantities of various narcotic drugs prepared for sale, including marijuana, alpha-PVP, clephedrone and methadone.
The offenses carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
