Police in Georgia have arrested a Ukrainian citizen on suspicion of assisting the illegal sale of an especially large quantity of narcotics as part of an organised group, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has said.
According to the ministry, officers from the Old Tbilisi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department detained the suspect following an investigation.
Police said an investigative experiment led to the seizure of a package containing an especially large quantity of methadone allegedly prepared for distribution.
A search of the suspect's temporary residence also uncovered items allegedly used for packaging narcotics, the ministry said.
The offences are punishable by up to 20 years' imprisonment or life imprisonment.
