NATO-Georgia Joint Naval Exercises held in Black Sea

Ships of the Coast Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the NATO Naval Unit conducted joint naval exercises in the Black sea earlier today.
The exercise was component of a port visit by NATO’s Permanent Second Mine Action Unit (SNMCMG2) at the end of September.
The guard ship of the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs –“Sukhumi”, carried out the joint naval maneuvers as well as the ships of the NATO Permanent Second Anti-Mine Unit:ESPS RAYO (Spain), ROS LT LUPU DINESCU (Romania), BGS SHKVAL (Bulgaria), TCG EDINCIK (Turkey) and ITS VIAREGGIO (Italy).
The aim of the exercise was to increase the cooperation of Georgian and NATO naval forces and strengthen the defense skillset of our country.
Visits of the NATO navy divisions in Georgian ports are regular and are one of the tangible results of NATO-Georgia cooperation in terms of strengthening Black Sea security. It is the second visit of NATO ships in Georgia since 2021 has started.
