NATO’s Colomina, Georgian PM discuss ties in Tbilisi meeting

The progress achieved by Georgia in terms of Euro-Atlantic integration and the main directions of the agenda of NATO-Georgia relations were the main questions discussed in the meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, the administration of the government of Georgia said on Tuesday.  

The officials have discussed support measures tailored to Georgia, which aim to further increase the country’s defense capabilities, said  the press office. 

“Attention was focused on the new strategic concept of NATO. The concept was said to reiterate NATO’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and underscore the strategic importance of the Black Sea to the alliance”, said the government  press office. 

Garibashvili said “Georgia has always been one of the most reliable and capable partners of the Alliance, which made the greatest contribution to the common Euro-Atlantic security”. 

The PM noted that over the years Georgia had made “significant progress” on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration.

“The conversation also touched on the ongoing war in Ukraine and the difficult security environment in the region and the world. Garibashvili and Colomina reviewed the current situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. The PM once again confirmed the commitment of the Georgian government to the policy of peaceful resolution of the conflict”, said the government administration.
