NATO on Tuesday said Georgia will need the membership action plan for integration into the alliance, while the stage will be removed for Ukraine, the bloc’s communique released on the first day of the Vilnius Summit said.
“We reaffirm the decision of the 2008 Bucharest NATO Summit that Georgia will become a member of the Alliance through MAP which is a coherent part of the process,” said the final communique of NATO member states.
Ilia Darchiashvili, the Georgian foreign minister, who is present at the summit, said the alliance would decide to invite Ukraine if it agrees on this and the relevant conditions are met.
