Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda on Friday declared his country’s “firm support” for the Georgian people as they protested the Government’s decision to postpone EU accession talks until 2028.

“Lithuania stands firmly with the people of Georgia and their European dream,” Nausėda said on social media.

He also wished “strength and courage” to Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili in leading the country on its European path.

Georgian police detained 43 demonstrators during protests in Tbilisi on Friday, with gatherings continuing on central squares despite the arrests.
