A new bridge connecting Georgia with Armenia was opened on Friday.

The  Prime Ministers of Georgia and Armenia attended the opening ceremony.

“The Friendship Bridge, which we built together, embodies the success of our cooperation and friendship. The 160-meter-long, four-lane bridge with modern parameters, jointly built on the territory of the two states, is unique in the region. After its commissioning, the cross-border capacity is doubled, the quality of road safety is improved”, Garibashvili said.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the importance of the bridge in terms of increasing economic cooperation:

“In the conditions of the current most difficult challenges, a visible growth was observed in the Armenian-Georgian economic relations. There is an increase of 97 percent compared to last year. This is a very important indicator”,  Pashinyan said.
