Political expert Nika Chitadze has claimed there were opportunities for opposition forces in Georgia to unite, though this did not necessarily mean forming a single party.
Speaking to Front News, Chitadze suggested that a more likely outcome would be the creation of a joint coordination council for pro-Western Georgian forces.
“There are possibilities for unification. This is not specifically about forming a single party; a unified pro-Western bloc of Georgian forces could be created. I think it is more likely that a joint coordination council will be established,” he said.
Chitadze stressed that success depended heavily on an effective information strategy.
“A significant portion of Georgia’s population has been misled - many truly believe that the ruling party, Georgian Dream, ensured peace and saved the country, or that the people protesting on Rustaveli Avenue are paid by the West or are foreign agents. Therefore, it is essential to implement a correct information policy. The most important steps are unifying the parties, coordinating with the West, and pursuing measures against the Georgian Dream,” he added.
