One of the leaders of the opposition Coalition for Changes, Nika Gvaramia, has been arrested following a court decision to replace his preventive measure with imprisonment.

Judge Jvebe Nachkebia granted the prosecutor's motion on Friday, prompting Gvaramia to report voluntarily to Rustavi Prison, where he awaited enforcement of the court's decision.

Gvaramia was initially taken to the police department. According to his lawyer, Dito Sadzaglishvili, authorities informed him that Gvaramia would first be processed at the police department before being transferred to the penitentiary facility in Rustavi.
