One of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, Nika Gvaramia, on Monday said he is prepared for any decision the court may take, including the imposition of bail.
Speaking ahead of a scheduled court hearing, Gvaramia said he did not expect a positive outcome and has been informed that bail and the confiscation of his passport were likely.
“I am not creating expectations, especially not positive ones. As I understand, it will probably be bail and the confiscation of my passport,” he said.
Gvaramia added that he would accept the court’s decision as a given. “If I cannot travel abroad, I do not see that as a problem. Others will travel to my place and we will somehow make our voices heard by our friends,” he said.
He also added that if bail is imposed, he will pay it. “We will see what the amount will be. What could they possibly do that would surprise me?” he added, referring to the ruling Georgian Dream party.
A court hearing involving politicians charged in the so-called sabotage case is scheduled for 13:00 at Tbilisi City Court.
