A court in Tbilisi has fined a man 2,000 lari after finding him guilty of insulting opposition politician Nika Gvaramia.
The case was brought following an investigation by the Interior Ministry's unit responsible for combating hate speech.
The incident occurred on 3 June when a citizen identified as Giorgi Gedenidze posted an insulting comment about Gvaramia under a social media post published by a media outlet.
Proceedings were conducted under Article 166 of Georgia's Code of Administrative Offences. The defendant did not attend the court hearing.
