Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, is on an official visit to Seoul, Korea, together with a parliamentary delegation, where discussions have focused on bilateral ties and regional security.
The parliamentary press service on Friday said Samkharadze met with Choi Hyung-chan, head of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy. The meeting centred on the development of diplomatic and political relations between the two countries.
Following the meeting, Samkharadze took part in a discussion with professors and experts from the diplomatic academy on security issues in the Black Sea region. He delivered a presentation addressing Georgia’s security challenges, broader regional security concerns and Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Samkharadze said the discussion also covered NATO enlargement and the development of the Middle Corridor trade route, highlighting its strategic importance. He noted strong interest from Korean experts in Georgia’s transit role and economic growth potential.
Questions raised during the exchange reportedly touched on the impact of the war in Ukraine on Georgia’s occupied territories, the peace process in the Caucasus, and Tbilisi’s relations with Central Asian and Middle Eastern countries.
