Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, and Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin on Friday discussed Georgia’s European integration process.

The Georgian Parliament’s press office said Cardinal Parolin expressed interest in the current challenges surrounding relations between Georgia and the European Union.

The parties also discussed the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region.

Talks further focused on Georgia’s role in promoting peace in the South Caucasus, including efforts related to the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and broader regional security issues.

Earlier the same day, the Georgian parliamentary delegation held an audience with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican.
