Business Federation Women for Tomorrow has been presented at the world important forum held in Washington, USA.
Global Leadership Awards Forum is the name of the annual event, which awards women leaders around the world for their contributions in various fields.
Georgia and Women for Tomorrow have been presented at the occasion by the founder of the American International School Progress network, Nino Chikvashvili, who is also the national director of the World Women Club.
During her several-day visit, Chikvashvili held a number of representative meetings, where she had raised the issue of Georgia’s occupation in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war.
She had made a focus of the Russia-Georgia 2008 conflict and called on the international community to fight against the common enemy.
Addressing the audience, Chikvashvili said she was “deeply honored” to have a chance to raise a voice about “ongoing injustices in the region”.
“I was born in a small but courageous country – Georgia – which, similarly to Ukraine, has undergone a number of atrocities from Russia”, she said.
She recalled that back in the 1990s, when Russia backed separatism in Georgia and armed conflicts tore the country apart, “I fought for freedom and a better future with every step I took. I was confident that the key to freedom would be found in education, so I started my own private school and has been successfully raising progressive-minded generations for 20 years already”.
“Today, as I stand before you, I represent the people who have escaped from the clutches of Russian imperialism and continue to fight for freedom everyday”.
“My country has suffered a lot. Today 20 percent of Georgia is occupied by Russia and the creeping occupation continues to ruin the lives of hundreds of thousands of people up until now. Even though the ceasefire agreement with Russia had been achieved with the help of our western allies back in 2008, the conflicts in Georgia failed to assure the world how potent Russian aggression is until Putin announced yet another full-scale invasion of a free, independent country. Now Ukraine fell victim to Russian imperialism and madness. Now Ukrainian civilians are fighting for their freedom at the cost of their lives. But it gives me hope to see the world united in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and well-being”, Chikvashvili stated.
She noted that “the time has come to come together and stand up to our enemy. Time has come to let the peace win”.
“As a representative of Georgian people here on this event, I call for your help and support to never let Russian aggression harm another independent country. We will win! Glory to Ukraine, glory to Georgia!”
