Vice Speaker condemns ‘disinformation campaign’ against Metropolitan Shio

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Nino Tsilosani has accused opponents of spreading disinformation targeting Metropolitan Shio, the appointed locum tenens of the late Patriarch Ilia II.

“Pharisees are playing their usual role. They claim to have loved Patriarch Ilia II, yet now they drag his chosen successor into a dirty campaign. This is a deliberate attempt to discredit Metropolitan Shio and create discord within the Church at a time when its strength and stability are most needed,” Tsilosani said.

She added that narratives surrounding the Patriarch’s will and alleged conflicts within the Synod are intended to undermine the Church’s independent decision-making. “It is clear to everyone that the Patriarch, during his lifetime, chose Metropolitan Shio as his coadjutor, and that was his decision,” Tsilosani said.
