Roman Gotsiridze, an opposition MP, on Thursday forecasted an “inevitable” conflict between the current Georgian Dream authorities and the new Ambassador of the United States to Georgia Robin Dunnigan, who arrived in Tbilisi early on Thursday to assume her duties.
The MP claimed the alleged reason for the conflict which he said will come “within a month” would be “incompatibility” between the policies of the current Georgian Government and the country’s western partners.
“It is nice that one of the most experienced diplomats will be the US ambassador to Georgia. She will play the same important role in the country’s democratic development as Kelly Degnan did.[However], no matter who the new US ambassador is, the Georgian Dream Government will have a conflict with her”, the MP said.
He claimed the current Georgian authorities were pursuing “pro-Kremlin” policies and were trying to “distance the country” from the West.
