The United States does not plan to announce any new policy regarding supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles or approving their use, according to a statement from the White House.

National Security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters on Friday that “there is no change to our view on the provision of long-range strike capabilities for Ukraine to use inside of Russia.”

Kirby also addressed concerns raised by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has warned that any use of Western-made long-range missiles by Ukraine inside Russian territory could be seen as the West being directly involved in the conflict.

“This is not rhetoric that we haven’t heard from him before…He has obviously proven capable of aggression…so, yeah we take these comments seriously,” Kirby said.
