Anzor Chubinidze, the Head of the Special State Protection Service of Georgia, on Monday claimed father had covered the costs of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s charter flight on a Government jet to the United States to accompany his son to Pennsylvania University.

In his press comments, Chubinidze said Tariel Garibashvili, who owns 50 percent shares in a single company he bought with $76,000 in February this year, had paid about 34 euros for the flight, amid the opposition’s allegations to the PM on his alleged corruption.

The Strategic Communications Department of the Government of Georgia last week claimed Garibashvili took the charter flight in August and “himself” covered the funds to Munich, adding from Germany the PM took a regular flight to the US.

No related checks have been released so far.
