Vladimir Tsabadze, illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near the village of Dirbi in the Karel Municipality, has been released and is now on territory controlled by the central Georgian government, according to a statement of the State Security Service of Georgia, released on Monday.

Securing Tsabadze’s release involved actively using the EU Monitoring Mission’s (EUMM) “hotline” mechanism, alongside all relevant tools at the central government’s disposal. The issue was discussed at meetings under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) and during the Geneva International Discussions.

The statement reads that the Georgian government holds the occupation forces responsible for all destructive actions in the occupied regions and along the occupation line. The central authorities, in coordination with international partners, continue their efforts to secure the release of all Georgian citizens unlawfully detained in the occupied territories, the statement added.
