Zelenskyy outlines expectations for Trump-Putin meeting: “It’s time for the war to end”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to open a real path toward peace between Ukraine and Russia.

Zelenskyy said he is already awaiting intelligence reports on Russia’s current plans and preparations for the upcoming summit in Alaska.

“The key thing is that this meeting should open up a real path toward a just peace and a substantive discussion between leaders in a trilateral format – Ukraine, the United States, and the Russian side. It is time to end the war, and the necessary steps must be taken by Russia,” the President noted.

He also emphasized that Ukraine is counting on a strong US position in the negotiations.

The meeting between Trump and Putin is scheduled for this evening. Trump described the summit as preparatory in nature, noting that the chance of an unsuccessful outcome stands at 25%.
