Only 11 of 621 infected with Omicron coronavirus strain in Georgia hospitalized

Only 11 individuals out of the 621 infected with a new strain of coronavirus dubbed as Omicron have been hospitalized, head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze has stated. 

 

He said that 45 percent of the new cases recorded in Georgia are Omicron. 

 

Gamkrelidze said that 951 cases of Omicron have been confirmed in the country so far, while  621 cases have been studied in detail. 

 

Georgia has reported 5,486 new cases of coronavirus of 57,546 tests, 2,893 recoveries and 46 deaths in the past 24 hours.

 

The new cases for Tbilisi and regions are as follows: 

 

Tbilisi – 2,985 cases 

Adjara – 569 cases

Imereti – 563 cases

Kvemo Kartli – 205 cases

Shida Kartli – 282 cases

Guria – 145 cases

Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti – 290 cases

Kakheti – 192 cases

Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 131 cases

Samtskhe-Javakheti – 84 cases

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 40 cases
