Paweł Herczyński, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, on Wednesday said opening accession talks with Tbilisi after the country obtained the bloc’s candidacy last year was dependent on the completion of nine conditions.

The diplomat stressed since Georgia was advancing toward joining the EU, “political leaders must collaborate constructively, involving civil society and businesses” to fulfill the conditions, which cover several key reforms and obliges the country to align with the bloc’s priorities.

“Their execution is pivotal for Georgia to progress to the next stage, which includes the commencement of negotiations for EU accession.

The objective of these steps and stages isn’t merely to satisfy Brussels; rather, it’s to enhance the lives of the Georgian populace and align Georgia with European Union standards.

“As Georgia progresses towards EU membership, political leaders must cooperate constructively, involving civil society and businesses to realize the European aspirations of the Georgian population. Rest assured, the European Union stands ready to support Georgia at every juncture along this journey,” Herczyński said.
