Opposition MP Khatia Dekanoidze on Monday questioned the sincerity of the government’s commitment to transparency, highlighting concerns about alleged financial improprieties involving figures such as former prime minister and chair of the ruling party Irakli Garibashvili.

Dekanoidze urged authorities to prioritize investigations into individuals like judges and a former official, who were last year sanctioned by the United States.

Dekanoidze challenged the government, questioning the progress and authenticity of any investigations, pointing to perceived gaps in transparency and accountability. The MP also raised concerns about potential foreign influence and questioned the government’s commitment to combating such influences.

“If the government truly values transparency and accountability, why haven’t they initiated thorough investigations into the financial dealings of individuals like Irakli Garibashvili?” Dekanoidze asserted. “It’s imperative that we address these concerns if we are to uphold the integrity of our democratic processes.”
