Opposition MP Khatia Dekanoidze on Thursday blamed the ruling Georgian Dream party majority delegation for the collapse of an initiative at Euronest for the country’s EU integration, citing their “consistent anti-Western stance” as the primary cause.

Dekanoidze expressed disappointment over the inability to garner support from deputies representing at least ten international partner countries to kickstart a resolution.

The failure to convene representatives from the Euronest delegation, according to Dekanoidze, was a blow to Georgia’s interests, with the majority delegation bearing “significant responsibility”.

The initiative put forward by the Georgian Dream party faced defeat at Euronest due to an insufficient number of votes.

Notably, members of the opposition and the Ukrainian delegation refrained from endorsing the proposal. The initiative aimed to urge the European Union to promptly initiate negotiations with three candidate countries for EU accession.
