Aleko Elisashvili, an MP of the Citizens opposition party, on Tuesday called “inexplicable and embarrassing” the absence of the ruling Georgian Dream party lawmakers at the latest PACE vote, which declared Russian President Vladimir Putin’s presidency after 2024 illegitimate.
Elisashvili claimed “it seems that something has changed, because Georgian Dream no longer supports the resolutions over Russia”.

“Last week, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe passed a very important resolution over Putin’s dictatorial rule. The only one from Georgia who supported this resolution was Ketevan Turazashvili, a Citizens MP”, Elisashvili said.

The GD representatives did not attend the PACE session and therefore did not support the resolution.

PACE is the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, whose members are Georgian MPs.

The Georgian Dream members did not attend the PACE session in April as well, where the resolution against Russia was adopted. As Givi Mikanadze, the GD MP claimed then, they had bought return tickets beforehand.
