Opposition raises Saakashvili’s issue at a meeting with US official Olson

Georgian opposition representatives have raised the issue of the arrested former president, Mikheil Saakashvili, at a meeting with the United States Deputy Assistant Secretary, Erika Olson, earlier today.
Leader of Strategy Agmashenebeli opposition party,Giorgi Vashadze, stated after the meeting that the Georgian Dream government is expected to receive ‘very strong messages’ from the US in the coming days.
Opposition MP Salome Samadashvili claimed that the US may review its policy towards Georgia.
Saakashvili, who has been on hunger strike for 40 days in a prison in Georgia, was transferred to a Gldani prison hospital late yesterday.
Saakashvili claims that the transfer took place against his will, while the Ministry of Justice dismisses the allegations and releases a video which depicts Saakashvili is packing his belongings and following the prison personnel.
Expert Mamuka Areshidzed has told Front News that the US is able to discharge the current political crisis in Georgia with its ‘strong statements,’as America is in the need of a reliable and a stable partner, like Georgia, in the region.
