Members of the domestic opposition groups on Wednesday claimed the European Commission’s recommendations to the Council to grant Georgia the EU candidacy in December was the “merit” of the Georgian people and not the current Government.

“Many thanks to our European strategic partners, those who, despite many problems, appreciated the will of the Georgian people and took an important step. For a year and a half, Georgian Dream did nothing more than obstruct, but today they lost to the Georgian people”, Giorgi Vashadze, an MP of the Strategy Agmashenebeli said.

Levan Khnabeishvili, the head of the United National Movement opposition, claimed Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the GD and the former PM labeled as a “pro-Russian shadow ruler” of the country by the group, had lost  the “first round” with the Georgiann people.
