The United National Movement opposition party has called on the public to gather in central Tbilisi at 7 p.m. later today, where the party, with other opposition parties, will announce its plans as the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party has won 19 of 20 mayoral constituencies in run-offs yesterday.

UNM head Nika Melia says that the ‘fight has just begun’ and claims that the run-offs were fabricated.

The GD, however, says that it has won 63 of 64 mayoral constituencies in the first and second round of municipal elections, received 47 percent of the vote in the proportional part of the race and will compose the majority in most of city assemblies.

“We have shown a better result than back in 2017,” GD head Irakli Kobakhidze said earlier today, noting that the race ‘once again proved the Georgian people’s trust in our policy which is a big responsibility.’

The only mayoral constituency, where the GD lost the race is Tsalenjikha, western Georgia.
