Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Friday announced he and his Government members would visit Tbilisi next week, ahead of the European Commission’s final report on Georgia’s implementation of the EU membership candidacy conditions later this month, describing himself as the “most devoted supporter” of Georgia’s EU membership.

In his comments, the Hungarian official once again condemned the EU rejection of Tbilisi’s candidacy last year as “unfair”, and claimed the country “deserved” the status considering its “great job and achievements” over the years.

The European Council will use the Commission’s report to decide on the country’s status in December.
