Georgian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Otar Berdzenishvili, has announced his resignation in a public statement shared on the social platform X.

Berdzenishvili, who has served diplomatically for over two decades, expressed his full solidarity with peaceful protesters against the Georgian Governmnet’s decision on Thursday to halt the country’s EU accession talks until 2028, condemning violence against their free will.

In his statement, Berdzenishvili highlighted his extensive diplomatic career, emphasizing his role in Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic and EU

integration efforts, as well as fostering strong partnerships, particularly with the United States. He stressed that the progress achieved in these areas must remain unshaken and uncompromised, regardless of the circumstances.

Berdzenishvili’s resignation comes amidst ongoing political tensions and unrest.
