Outgoing French Ambassador to Georgia Shéraz Gasri praised the Georgian people for their resilience and commitment to independence, sovereignty, democracy, and Europe.

“I am impressed and inspired by the courageous people of Georgia fighting for its independence, sovereignty, democracy and for Europe,” Gasri wrote on the social platform X.

She noted that during her last visit to the Didgori memorial - the memorial complex dedicated to one of the most important and famous battles in the history of Georgia, the Battle of Didgori - she paid tribute to the heroes of the 1121 battle, describing it as a symbol of Georgia’s “combattive and victorious spirit.”

Sheraz Gasri’s term as ambassador has concluded, with French President Emmanuel Macron appointing Olivier Courteaud as France’s new Ambassador to Georgia earlier this month.
