The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Thursday adopted the resolution which called Russia regime a ‘terrorist one,’ condemned its recent agression against Ukraine, and reiterated support for the country.

The resolution also called for the review of cases of “political prisoners”.

“The Assembly also calls for a review of cases of other political prisoners opposed to President Putin, in the Russian Federation and in other countries, and for their release (including Mikheil Saakashvili, Ukrainian citizen and former President of Georgia)”, said the text. The resolution, titled ‘Further escalation in the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine,’ was supported by 99 members, with 1 abstention, and no one voting against it.

The document also called for Russia to withdraw its troops from Georgia and Ukraine.
