The ruling Georgian Dream party has approved the establishment of a parliamentary investigative commission to examine the activities of the United National Movement (UNM) government and officials who held power between 2003 and 2012.

According to Georgian Dream’s parliamentary resolution, the temporary investigative commission will operate for three months.

“This was one of our key pre-election promises, and at the very least, the vast majority of our citizens—who have once again entrusted us with leading the country—expect this process to take place. I am certain that we all understand the significance of this commission’s work and the impact its findings will have on the healthy development of our country,” said Georgian Dream MP Irakli Kirtskhalia.
