Elections to the People's Assembly (Parliament) of Bulgaria began on Sunday, April 4.
At 07:00 local time, 12 thousand polling stations opened in the country, which will work until 20:00. 6.7 million voters have the right to take part in the elections.
The Parliament of Bulgaria is unicameral, elections are held every four years. This year, they are being held in the wake of criticism of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, head of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, who is accused of failing to eliminate bribery and poverty and rebuild the judicial system.
The 4% barrier, according to forecasts, can be overcome by up to seven parties. In total, almost 7 thousand candidates apply for 240 seats in the Bulgarian parliament.
