The Parliament of Georgia has given its approval in the second reading to a package of legislative amendments proposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on road safety.

As per the revised regulations, effective from December 1st to March 1st, it becomes mandatory for vehicles to be equipped with winter tires when traversing through areas or specific road sections designated by the Government of Georgia.

Moreover, in exceptional circumstances, considering meteorological conditions, authorities reserve the right to designate an alternate time frame or impose additional requirements, such as the use of anti-skid chains in conjunction with winter tires.

Violating these stipulations will result in administrative penalties. Offenders will face a fine of 100 GEL and a reduction of five points on their driver’s license as a punitive measure.
